Repercussion
Book Substantiates Fr. De Pauw's Experience
March 25, AD 2004
In festo annunciatianis
Carissime Comiles,
I just finished reading – “studying” would be a better word – your latest publication, Vatican II, Homosexuality and Pedophilia
As with all your books the statement on the back cover is ever so true “What many Catholic suspect - only a few have the courage to express.” You are, indeed, outstanding among those few “noble denunciators.”
Your book – fully substantiating my own experience of 62 years in the priesthood spent in Europe and the USA, including my 1962-65 participation in that infamous Vatican II Council – impressed me even more, arriving here almost simultaneously with the American Bishops’ latest attempt to re-arrange the furniture on their sinking Titanic, their 2-section, 421 page “Report on the Implementation of the Charter for Protection of Children and Young People.”
Even though you probably have seen it already, I am also enclosing a copy of the current – March 22-28 – issue of the National Weekly Edition of The Washington Times. The article deals with Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland, persistently hailed in neo-“traditionalist” Catholic publications as the ideal seminary for the “reborn” post-Vatican II church, and systematically sold under that advertising label by that seminary’s former rector, the current St. Paul Minneapolis Archbishop Harry Flynn.
Instead of bowing his head in shame it seems to be with boasting joy that the current rector admits that half of the men applying for admission “are still virgins,” and that “homosexual applicants are not automatically turned down.”
A far cry, indeed, from the pre-Vatican II Mount St. Mary’s seminary, where, in the 1950s and 1960s, I spent thirteen happy years as professor and academic dean, with among my students the future Archbishop Harry Flynn – for 6 years! – and the current Shreveport, Louisiana Bishop William Friend – for 4 years! … And I have no doubt that what I inculcated in their brains and souls in those years must now and then disturb their consciences while looking at their ordination pictures.
With all prayerful best wishes,
In Christo Jesu et Maria,
Fr. Gommer A. De Pauw
